Monthly Cleaning Schedule You Need Today!
This post is about a monthly cleaning schedule.
I am going to label them by each week, it does not matter what week you start on as long as you rotate through them in order or even out of order. I just wanted to make sure I hit all of the important aspects of cleaning chores in each week and that should be good for the month.
You can look at my other cleaning essentials posts here: The Ultimate Best Bathroom Cleaner Supply List & 5 Ways to Start Cleaning Bathroom Floors The Efficient Way.
Week One – Monthly Cleaning
Like I said, gathering your supplies is probably the best way to start any cleaning schedule whether it be daily and/or weekly. It can take some time to go through different products to make sure that the products are what works best for you and your home. Every home and every person wants and needs different thing.
- Dust your fans – This one is super important because we will often forget to dust the fans which is something that is used often, if not every day. I think it is something that can be put on your monthly cleaning schedule list.
- Clean baseboards – All you need for this one is hot water, bleach, and powdered tide with a rag to clean the baseboards. This is something that can be gone through monthly instead of weekly.
- Clean Bathrooms – This is definitely not something that will occur just once in this monthly cleaning schedule. I am adding this just as a routine check if you are going to be using this for an entire month instead of a weekly cleaning schedule.
- Clean Stovetops – You can definitely get away with cleaning your stovetops about twice a month. When I say clean I definitely mean deep cleaning of your stoves where you take everything apart and focus on the details.
- Clean Garbage Cans – Definitely a monthly cleaning tip that can happen! Just use Dawn Powerwash and you should be good to go!
- Wash Sheets – Washing your sheets every week is SUPER important.
- Vacuum Every Week – This needs to happen at least once a week and sometimes even two-three times with pets/dogs.
- Mop Floors – Every two weeks at least!! Super important to do with HOT water. I do this every week but I do not wear shoes in my house.
Week Two – Monthly Cleaning
- Wipe your Kitchen Cabinets – definitely a must have for a monthly cleaning schedule because it is definitely a deep cleaning hack that needs to be done usually once or twice a month
- Clean out your fridge – I would try to do this weekly but it never works. When I mean clean, I mean to wipe out everything and take everything out.
- Clean out pantry – Any expired items, reorganize your bins, whatever it may be! Just make sure the focus this week is the kitchen.
- Clean garbage disposal – I like to do this almost every week, but I am putting this on here to make sure you do it at least once a week. You should use baking soda, vinegar, and some hot water to clean it well. Here is also a disposal cleaner I like to use from target.
- Wash Sheets – I like to wash all my bedding sheets on every Sunday.
- Wash towels – Depending on how many towels you have, it depends how many times you have to wash them. I usually rotate between 3-4 towels so I wash them about every two weeks!
- Vacuum – This is going to be a repeat on this monthly cleaning schedule printable as well 😉 (coming soon)
Week Three – Monthly Cleaning
- Clean Fireplace/Mantle – This might not be applicable to everyone, but this is just good to put in the list. Make sure to wipe down at least once a month to keep the dust/dirt away too!
- Clean Doors/doorknobs – I like to do this a few times a month especially to disinfect in general.
- Vacuum – Another one to add because it is a great reminder. You may think your floors are clean but trust me you need to clean them ONCE (minimum) A WEEK!
- Wash Sheets – Just a weekly thing that can be done on Sundays! 😉
- Clean Vacuum – This may not be applicable to everyone but I think most people don’t realize that they need to clean the vacuum!
Week Four – Final Monthly Cleaning Schedule Part!
- Vacuum – A typical weekly chore 😉 I am going to continue to add this one very week!
- Mop – Every two weeks
- Wash your Towels – every two weeks if you have a lot of towels to go back and forth
- Clean Sofas – This is another deep cleaning chore that needs to happen every few months actually… I am going to insert it into this to do a basic cleaning for your couches. Just taking out the cushions and vacuuming and for the deep cleaning part, you would just wash the cushions.
- Wash Pillows – Pillowcases (couch ones). Bedroom (actual) pillows can be washed!
Finally, this is not my deep cleaning checklist at all. Keep in mind that this is a monthly cleaning keeping up with the house and breaking it down every week in order to keep your house clean all month! I think it is important to have a “strict” monthly schedule that you know about. This will start to be a routine. “Oh it is week 3, I need to clean the doors this week” focus on that and slowly you will come to realize how simple and easy it can be to develop habits that will only help your life and home!
Keeping your house clean here are some bonus products/organizers you may need:
- Fridge Storage Containers
- Microfiber towels to use to clean
- The best bedding sheets – SUPER affordable
- DYSON V8 – a vacuum everyone needs and especially those who think they do not (jk) but seriously it is a great vacuum and worth the investment!
Other than that, thank you for reading this and incorporating it in your life!!!
This post was all about a monthly cleaning schedule to use.
