Your living room is almost always the room that is used the most besides your bedroom. It is the living room where your guests go to first, typically. You want to make your living room as cozy as possible, but on a budget? Here are my top 10 ideas on some easy, cheap living room decor ideas in 2021. Let’s go!
This post is all about easy living room decor ideas in 2021 on a budget 😉
EASY MODERN LIVING ROOM IDEAS FOR 2021
1. COUCH FOR YOUR LIVING ROOM
Picking a couch was the hardest part for my house. I will insert some before pictures of my living room that are still not done. I had a really closed off living room, but not really. It was a perfect fit for a “L sectional couch.” One of my best purchases for my house TILL now and trust me I have bought a lot. This U sectional couch is super comfortable and I will have it linked as well. Definitely use your couch as a neutral color and then be able to build some color around it, if you want. I am a huge neutral girl, but I really did not want a white couch because of how dirty they can get. So this beige color was perfect for me. I am still on the hunt to find the best rug to match my aesthetic.
2. RUGS FOR YOUR LIVING ROOM
I have preached about how important rugs are in previous posts of mine. However, rug might be before couch seleciton when we are talking about living room ideas for 2021. These are the rugs you should be looking at in 2020 when decorating your living room: vintage, jute, layering rugs
3. WALL ART
Wall art can get expensive, but it definitely can be doable on a budget when you are looking for living room decor ideas for 2021. You can find some great pieces at HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, Goodwill, and so many other thrift shops! Do NOT stop looking. I have still not found the best piece for my walls, but I definitely think it is out there.
Gallery walls have been super trendy this year in your living room. Gallery walls are also a great way to fill up wall space and look super aesthetic as a living room decor ideas for 2021 😉
4. PICK A THEME FOR YOUR LIVING ROOM
Theoretically, this should be the first one because you really want to focus on a theme when you are starting a plan either digital or physical. I do not think it should be the main focus whenever you are decorating your living room. I would describe my style as modern boho farmhouse decor style. I mean this can be so versatile as well and if I think it will fit, I will get it no matter what it may look like. That is just something I focus on. I focus more on how it will look in the overall room.
5. COFFEE TABLE
Coffee table really can bring your room together. I would focus on a wood one versus a glass one. Wood coffee tables are super trendy right now in 2021 and will stay for awhile. They look SO good with a mixture of texture in your living room, whether the shape is round or rectangle!
6. DECORATIONS LIVING ROOM IDEAS
Small decor items will add up in the living room! You want to look for vases, floor vases, plants, to add some greenery to the room! This will help you add color without actually adding color to furniture pieces! After that, buy some books from goodwill and turn the book cover inside out to where it shows a solid black or white color. I will show you a picture of this whenever I get it done and I will upload it to this post.
BEADS! Add in some beads to your vases, coffee table, entry table, etc!
7. MIRRORS TO OPEN YOUR LIVING ROOM
Mirrors in a living room can really open a space up naturally! Mirrors are able to bring in more light and make a bedroom or a living room bigger! The best mirrors out there for this would have to be some beautiful arch mirrors like this one!
Add in some mirrors to really open up your space!
8. DIY LIVING ROOM DECOR IDEAS
Be a DIY guru by looking up certain projects on YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, etc. You can really get so many projects done SO much cheaper and you are decorating your living room on a budget!!
9. THROW PILLOWS
Do not underestimate what throw pillows and throw blankets can do for your room! The cheapest hack for throw pillows are to get them from Ross, TJ Maxx, etc and make sure there are zippers on the throw pillows! Then you are able to buy some cheap pillow covers and cover your throw pillows up to your liking.
There is also a great trend of “choppable pillows” I am not a huge fan of it, but I am sure if you are, you can find some choppable pillows at these stores and just DIY the cover!
