This post is for a new house checklist.
Are you moving into your first house and have no clue where to get your NEW house checklist? Here are my top home things to buy your new house checklist!
New House Checklist
This post is all about your new house checklist! These are the things I could NOT find online when I bought my first house. Keep in mind, this new house checklist will be items you may have already from an apartment or you may just need to invest in it for your first new house! No matter what your situation is, this is the perfect new house checklist to get the ball rolling.
1. TRASH CAN FOR YOUR FIRST HOUSE
So I am going to start off this new house checklist with the basics of cleaning. I am sorry but I do not care how “clean” your first house may look. There has to be some cleaning involved when we are moving into a brand new or a used house! You need to grab a trash can and trash bags to begin the journey of cleaning…
I needed a stainless steel trash can for my first home because of the design and the touch sensor! But to each its own!!!
2. PAPER TOWELS/TOWELS FOR YOUR NEW HOUSE CHECKLIST
In order to really get the ball rolling for this new house checklist… I suggest getting down to your baseboards and even wiping that off with paper towels. You want to move into a clean first house and not a dirty one!
It is also a good idea to use microfiber towels for my kitchen and random cleaning/dusting around the house! You can just throw them in the washer and you are good to go. Paper towels are great for bathroom cleaning where you do not want to cross-contaminate!
3. CLEANING SUPPLIES FOR YOUR FIRST HOUSE CHECKLIST
I have an entire post on the best cleaning supplies you will possibly need for your bathrooms:
{11 Simple Bathroom Cleaning Tips and Tricks}
Now until I get the post on the house essential cleaning supply list… (I am working on perfecting it) I think that this one will help you get those bathrooms clean fast and easy!
As far as cleaning supplies go, disinfectant sprays, stainless steel spray, dish soap, sponges, all of these things are some basics you can grab on your first house run!
4. VACUUM FOR YOUR FIRST HOME
I think I have said this before, but the Dyson Vacuum is a great investment! I definitely think that it is an expensive home find, but it is a new home must have! It makes vacuuming so easy and fast! It definitely is more powerful than a typical corded vacuum.
I bought my vacuum through eBay and it was refurbished! It was half the price and it works SO good! I like to clean it about every other month or so to make sure it lasts a while.
This is so not necessary for your first home! You should always get essentials that work for you and your home!
5. BROOM/MOP/DUSTER FOR YOUR NEW HOUSE CHECKLIST
As soon as I moved into my new house, I went to buy a broom and a mop to really deep clean my floors! This is a must-have in your new house checklist. You need to be able to deep clean your floors before you start to put furniture in there! I know I am a clean freak, but I definitely think it is worth the time to do this!
So I use my Dyson for the floors, however, the O-Cedar Spin Mop is one of my favorite mops ever!! It is super easy to use and it dries with the spin feature. It is definitely a must-have for your hardwood floors in your new house checklist.
6. KITCHEN ESSENTIALS FOR YOUR NEW HOME
I have a whole post on my top kitchen essentials you need for your first house. However, I think just starting REALLY basic is totally fine for your first house checklist. Here are the basics I would think you need:
- Basic Pots and Pans: Invest in non-stick pans!
- Kitchen Utensils (Spatulas, forks, spoons, knives) – You NEED to get some wood spatulas and pans!
- Tupperware – Get a lot, because you will be losing them everywhere
- Plates – Plastic plates are fine for the first few weeks of moving into a new home 😉
- Glasses – Get a few glasses to get by for now
- Napkins – Perfect so you do not waste expensive paper towels
- Some basic seasonings (salt, pepper, paprika, etc)
- COFFEE MAKER?! idk how can you not need a coffee maker!
- Can Opener – Random but it is so needed when you are heating up soups, beans, or any pantry items in the beginning stages of your new house!
There are always going to be more kitchen essentials that you may want and need, but I think this is a great start for your first new house! You want to start simply as you are moving into your new house, especially since you will be ordering out as you are settling in and moving in 😉
7. FIRST AID KIT FOR YOUR FIRST HOUSE
Okay, no one thinks about this when you are looking for a new house checklist, but I really do believe this is needed! I cut my finger the first night I was at my first house! I did not have a band-aid or anything to stop the bleeding. And you are always going to need a first aid kit for emergencies. It is just safe to grab on your first run of the new home checklist!
These were my best essentials I needed when I moved to my new house and I had basically no essentials! This is a perfect list to start with and to continue building from there. As time goes on, I will be filling up this post with more home must-haves and everything you need to start a clean, fresh, start in your new house with this checklist!!!
This post was all about the essentials you need for your new house checklist!
