Have you wanted to decorate your bathroom on a budget but look actually decent? I think decorating bathrooms is probably the last thing that may be on your list. However, it is SO important to think about! Most of your guests go to your bathroom or your guest bathroom each time they come over. You are using your personal bathroom MULTIPLE times a day! You want to create a space that is comfort, cozy, and also cute (yes even for a bathroom)!!!!
This post is all about how to decorate a bathroom on a budget!
DECORATE BATHROOM ON A BUDGET
1. Create a plan for your decorating vision!
In my earlier posts, I really do not put a lot of focus on planning because honestly, I would never do it! I would never plan my decorating ideas or really anything that I wanted to do in a room, etc. It is important to remember that plans do change, but planning initially will save you so much time and will help you be organized!!! I either write down my colors or even just layout a quick template on Canva.
What kind of bathroom rug do you want to use? What kind of colors do you want to use? Which is what I get into in the next step…
2. Focus on basics first.
This means putting your interior design taste into your shower curtain, bath mats, etc. I think looking at your basics and developing your taste from there really helps set up your bathroom, bedroom, living room, etc. For example, for my style right now, I am really into light browns, beiges, golds, etc. So for my towels, I have a light brown set and a dark brown set to help contrast the colors. Then for my soap dispensers, I got clear ones with a gold top! Really, I am just adding in my own touch to it as far as my decor taste and style! Towels are super cheap at Target and/or Walmart! They may not last that long, but they are definitely aesthetically pleasing if you want some decorative towels for your bathroom on a budget 😉
3. Invest in VERSATILE pieces FOR ANY DECORATING
Okay, this really can be beneficial for any room in your house. However, I really do not believe in putting hundreds of dollars in towels or something that you can find elsewhere that is a lot more affordable. Most of these things are going to be recycled so many times in our lives. We may get tired of the color, we may get tired of the trend, really the list goes on! So invest in a vase for your bathroom that you know you can use in a guest bedroom or guest bathroom one day! Something that is not just for one room in your house only!!!
Like for me, I am looking for a runner rug for my bathroom, but I do know that I can use one from my kitchen or hallway in my bathroom. I want to be able to invest in pieces that are to my decor style and also decorate my bathroom as well!
4. DIY DECOR!
I used to think I was not creative enough to DIY everything or even one thing in my house. However!!!! I DIY’ed these vases with some gesso? paint I got from Michaels and they look AWESOME!!!! They fit my style, they are versatile. And I can actually do an entire post on how I did these super cheap! You can find your vases at Goodwill for cheap and then get some paint and reinvent the entire product. SO cute.
5. DETAILS MATTER IN YOUR BATHROOM
Usually, your bathroom is not going to be HUGE to where people are looking at furniture pieces in your bathroom decor. Invest in looking for quality detailed pieces. That might be a random wooden stool that you need in your bathroom. Whatever it may be, work on details that really represent your house, decor style, etc!!
Also, look for these small pieces in your local thrift stores. I have found my cheapest pieces at Ross, Goodwill, and Target!
So here is my ultimate checklist on bathroom decor products or really just essentials for your bathroom. I am also linking some of my own in my bathroom:
- Shower curtains
- Tan Canister from Target
- Towels (BEST towels and affordable)
- Bath Mats – Some cheap ones for a dorm room too!
- Runner rugs instead of bath mats
- Soap dispensers – I have these from Ross but they were only $6 each… SO look there first!
