Here are my first few tips on how to decorate your bedroom on a budget! Are you moving into a new space or are you just tired of how your bedroom looks?
Decorate Your Bedroom On A Budget
1. Draw out a plan on canvas to start decorate your bedroom
Use Canva as a visual platform. Here is an example of what I had before I moved into my bedroom and what I wanted on a budget.
2. Research, research, research on a budget
I mean if you are really balling on a budget, you are going to look through every website there is, Facebook marketplace, garage sales, etc… You should not step away from used marketplaces! These are great places where you can get some antique pieces, pieces to flip, or really good, new pieces too!
Also, another trick is that sometimes the same furniture piece will be cheaper on one website versus the other. SEARCH THE NAME OF THE EXACT PIECE ON GOOGLE!! This will have all of the different pieces come up!

This is a great interior designer tip from the pros that I really did not understand until now. You want to focus on buying new furniture, that is totally fine. But you should also look at antique pieces with stories to mix in your house and bedroom!
3. Mix old with new budget tip
They do not have to be really expensive at all. You can even look at Goodwill and find some decent prices that have the vintage look! If you have too much new going on, it can look really plastered and fake.
4. Find your bed first
Find your bed before you start building everything on it. Whether you want a white one or different colors, just make sure you build the bedroom’s furniture from the center of the room which is the bed.
I would suggest the bed being a very neutral color like beige or white, in order to have unique pieces around there.
5. Use different colors of wood
Do not buy a matching set if you think that is the easy way out!! I know sometimes it may be tempting to buy a matching bedroom furniture set, but it can look really tacky and super matchy. You want to look at wood colors that compliment each other instead of looking like they are twins, we like to look like sisters (like eyebrows ;).
6. Focus on minimalism
Less is more for your bedroom, no matter what the size is. You want to focus on the main furniture pieces such as:
- Bed set
- Curtains
- Dresser
- Nightstands
- Bench
- Lounge chair
This is really not that many pieces, but this is the maximum you should probably focus on. Focus on the smaller pieces that can compliment your bed and your furniture around it.
7. Neutrality
Most interior designers really do like to focus on neutral colors and then using a couple pop of colors. Like I said before, use neutral colors as your bed and then use some dark, neutral colors as your rug, or your dresser.
I think those are my top tips to when you start to decorate your bedroom the interior design style but on a budget!
